Off to Seattle
Hopefully Sydney got all her crabbiness out today. She was extremely upset about something and nothing and everything all afternoon. I was rocking her for 30 minutes as she screamed. Finally when she fell asleep she slept only 2 minutes and then woke up like nothing happened. I'm hoping that she flies just as well to Seattle as she did to Nashville. We are going to visit Nate, which gives me the perfect opportunity to post my favorite picture of him.
Wow, that is something else. I still can't look at it without laughing. The new suitcases are packed up and we are ready to go for tomorrow. Looking forward to Seattle and seeing Nate again. I'll try to post while we are there, but meanwhile here are some pics from today before the epic meltdown.
What do you get when you combine Squash and Spurting?
That picture should explain it all. Sydney is getting much more enthusiastic about eating. She sees the spoon coming and opens up wide for the coming feast. Except today, every time I gave her a spoonful she would spurt. Somehow though in that process she was still able to eat most of it. There was definitely a significantly larger amount going in than coming back out. Squash is her favorite or all the foods we have tried so far. She must have been celebrating a fabulous lunch with her favorite past time of spurting. I tried to take a video but it was very difficult to record and feed her at the same time. When we were done the tray, her mouth, my hand, and a piece of mail on the ground 2 feet away were covered in squash. Yet all I could do was laugh because it was just so cute.

Sleepy Sydney
This morning Sydney was in the jumperoo vigorously jumping and playing. After a little while I noticed that she had stopped and looked over to see her sound asleep, lifting her head every once in a while only to set it back down again. It was adorable.
Six Months Old
Sydney turned 6 months old on Monday. Cherilyn also had the day off so we got to hang out all day. We got sushi for lunch, and made our plans for the day. Then headed home for some much needed afternoon napping. While Sydney and Cherilyn took a nap in the afternoon I went to the range for the first time this year so that Chris could tell me how awkward I look while swinging golf clubs. When I got home we went out to REI to get some things for our trip to visit Nate this weekend. Sydney enjoyed showing them off for everyone in the pictures. She's getting much better at rolling and sitting up. She rolled a full 360 the other day. Normally under the sea there are supports in the way so she has to throw her weight to flip over. I had her on a blanket and she tried to flip but there was no support to stop her so she kept going right back to her back. She was very confused.
Rapture Day Weekend
Well Harold Camping must not have carried the remainder in his Apocalypse calculations because we are still here. Good thing too because the rapture would have happened right in the middle of Nick Schneider's graduation party. He just graduated from St. Kate's for Physical Therapy. We had a good time hanging out with Nick and Kathy and their families on the 21st. We also found out that they are expecting in late November, so double congratulations to them. I was a dummy and forgot the camera, but Sydney got to play with 2 other babies while we were at the party. Sydney seemed very active compared to the other two. That morning she learned how to squack, and demonstrated that a few times for everyone.
That morning I also brewed a Honey Amber Ale with Dave Rafferty one of the teachers at the middle school where I work. School is still going until June 10th so we should be able to enjoy it shortly after that. I did get a few pictures of Dave playing with Sydney.

Little Miss Giggles
While we were waiting in the car Sydney just started giggling like crazy. The video is a little shaky because I was trying to record it from the front seat.

Go Go Gadget Arms
Sydney's new talent is reaching for everything that she can see. Whether it's Cherilyn's phone, or the playstation controller, or Odin's ear. If she can see it she is reaching for it. Her babbling has evolved as well. Instead of oohs and ahhs and ooaahs. Now she's added in repeated consonants. For example bah-bah-bah-bah-bah, mah-mah-mah-mah-mah-mah, dah-dah-dah-dah-dah, and gah-gah-gah-gah-gah.. I don't have a video of that yet but I'll work on it.
