Who needs toys?

Sydney did a fine job this morning of ignoring a cluttered carpet of toys and playing only with a box.  At one point she even attempting to pick up the cat out of the box so that she could get back in.

Track Superstar

Today Sydney didn't have daycare, so she came with me to track practice.  She had a lot of fun with all the attention she got from the girls.  At one point I asked them to watch her while I went and grabbed some equipment.  When I got back they were sitting around her in a circle with their hands up, and Sydney was turning around the circle giving everyone high 5s.  It was immensely cute.  These pics aren't from track, but she was being very cute this morning.

Really Real Wisconsin Cheese

After we were in Milwaukee we visited Anna in Madison.  She showed us the sights and introduced us to real cheese.  All cheese before pales in comparison to what we experienced in Wisconsin.  Sydney especially enjoyed the cheese.  All the while Anna was teaching Sydney to dance.  She knew that we would never truly be able to teach her to dance.  She took advantage of the time that she had for teaching.  It just happened to coincide with eating the cheesiest Mac and Cheese the world has ever seen.

Breakfast Etiquette

Our first morning Jules woke up before Sydney so Old Dave was making him some eggs for breakfast.  He put out the eggs and muffin on his high chair, which is easily within reach when the kids are standing.  However Julien seems to be a bit of a picky eater.  After Sydney got up we pointed her towards the eggs.  She went over there right away and started to eat the food.  Julien noticed that she was interested in something so he came over to see what was happening.  Sydney sensed an invading predator.  She immediately grabbed all the eggs in her hands and ran away to horde all the food for herself.  Then she climbed up on the ottoman to stand and watch for danger like a meercat.  Now it's been fun watching the two of them compete for food and bottles.  Bananas have been especially contentious.  At one point Sydney was running around with 1 1/2 bananas while Julien chased her through the house.

Bathroom Etiquette

After the delicious and messy pasta dinner, it was bathtime.  Jules was very excited to take a bath and ran into the bathroom as soon as his diaper came off.  I got Sydney ready and let her walk in to the bathroom herself.  As soon as I turned the corner Jules turned and gave me a look as if I was interrupting something important.  Sure enough her was peeing all over the bathmat.  Sydney noticed what was happening and decided that she didn't want to be rude and joined in immediately.  Swaying slightly back and forth to make sure she got good coverage of the bathmat.  After that bathtime went smoothly.  It was interesting though that Sydney was getting upset because she didn't want to get out and Julien was getting upset because he wanted to get out.

Milwaukee

Cherilyn has this week off, so we are in Milwaukee to visit Kasha, Dave and Julien, and Anna in Madison.  The two cousins were a little hesitant at first, but eventually they started playing together.  Of course food was what really brought them together.  Here are some pictures of when they were enjoying dinner.
