New Camera

For Christmas, Santa got me a present.  Santa looked on Amazon and saw that there was a good camera on discount.  Santa is very generous.  Santa also looks a lot like me.

Here are some pictures to start with.  I will add more when I don't have two screamers climbing on me.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

One of Sydney's favorite lunches is peanut butter jelly sandwiches.  Part of the reason why, is that we sing the Peanut Butter Jelly Time song while I make it.  Today as we started to sing and prepare lunch she was drinking milk.  She started dancing and then had a huge smile.  As she smiled all the milk in her mouth dripped off her chin and down her front. I didn't think her smile could get any cuter.mouth

Blogsplosion

This is my 8th post today.  I posted 7 times and it just felt like I needed an 8th.  I didn't post at all for most of November and all of December.  I feel that after the accident I never really got a foothold back on normalcy.  I was doing a lot of the same things but I didn't feel in control.  I was coaching and taking care of the girls, but I wasn't able to take care of myself the way that I should.  So I'm not coaching the boys season like I usually do so that I can try to get control of things so that it doesn't seem like I'm living a day at a time anymore.  In addition to working out, and getting other chores done more often, I will be attempting to blog daily again.  Obviously I've had a stockpile of a few things to blog about.  So here with number 8 are a bunch of pictures from the last month

No More Pacification

After what might be considered way too long, we decided to get rid of the pacifiers for Sydney. We tried to get rid of them last summer too. It seemed to be working well. I don't want to name names, but someone related to me by marriage folded like a card table. We made excuses all fall for why it wasn't a good time to try again, and we finally stopped allowing ourselves to postpone it any longer.

 We decided to cut the pacifiers one per night so that she would find them broken and then throw them away. That way we weren't taking them away completely cold turkey. We talked it up for a few days beforehand, and then we started cutting them up on Friday at naptime. By Sunday night the final pacifier was broken. Sydney was pretty upset, but at the same time she understood that the pacifiers were all broken so she couldn't have them anymore. She cried for about 15 minutes and then did her normal, going to bed routine. She usually babbles for about 30 minutes before she falls asleep. She went right from the crying to the babbling and then fell asleep like normal. The only part that I thought would be difficult was whenever she wakes up in the middle of the night. Usually when this happens she calls for us to find her pacy because it has either fallen on the ground, or is lost under her mountain of stuffed animals. This time she cried for me to cover her with her blanket. I'm now looking forward to the day when she can pull up her own blanket, and I can sleep in to later than 4 am.

 Day 2 went pretty well too. She called to sit on the potty. She usually hates to sit on the potty, but she did it. She also kept telling me to leave the bathroom. I stood outside the door, but I didn't go far because I think she was going to try to get into the trash to double check that the pacifiers were broken.

Day 3 was more difficult. She was playing us like a fiddle. Books, potty, everything to postpone bedtime. We got her down and she only cried for 5 minutes. However we had also just gotten a space heater for our room so that it wasn't so cold for Kylie. This blew the fuse which knocked out Sydney's night light. She got very upset. We figured out the problem and she calmed down pretty quickly. Unfortunately we forgot to unplug the other heater so it happened again. Cue meltdown number 3. I calmed her down by making sure she had every stuffed animal and her blankets.

Return of the Rice Cereal

We thought it seemed like Kylie enjoyed the rice cereal significantly less than Sydney.  But when we looked back it seemed about the same.  Kylie just isn't as handsy as Sydney.  Here it is.

Sydney was excited to see the jumper again after I got it out of storage.  She very enthusiastically showed Kylie how to use it properly.

Milestones

Both girls have been hitting some milestones recently.  Kylie is now able to sit up on her own fairly well.  We still need to watch her, but she is able to catch herself from falling over for at least a minute.  Sydney has enjoyed singing for awhile now as well.  She sings the tune of ABCs along with some mostly letter sounding sounds.  But yesterday she sang all of Pat-a-cake correctly.  You could make out all the right words and everything.  We are also working on potty training.  She has pooped in the potty a couple times now, but she isn't happy about it when it happens.  She is pretty good about peeing, but not quite ready for big girl pants yet. 

Tower!

For awhile now Sydney has enjoyed building with blocks.  She picked it up again recently and has been much better at balancing the blocks.  She was extremely proud of this tower.  So much so that she was yelling at the blocks after it fell down.

Bullseye

Kylie and I were playing last night.  I was holding her so that she was standing and we would bounce and jump up high.  She found this quite delightful.  We did this quite a few times.  Then I held her up above my head and looked up at her.  She had a huge smile on her face.  And I can only assume she continued to smile.  I couldn't tell though, because that is the moment that she spit up directly onto my eyeball.

Driving

We changed the seating in the car now for the girls.  The biggest change is that Sydney is back in the 3rd row now.  We also took out the middle section in the second row, so she now has an unobstructed view out the front windshield as we drive.  She is loving this.  As we drive she is shouting out "Wheeeeeeeeee!", and "Go Daddy Go!", and sings "where are we going "clap clap clap" gamma's house!" She sings them over and over again as she watches where we drive.
