Wyatt

Mother's Day at 5:30, the girls and I were playing Busy Town downstairs when Cherilyn came down. She had an odd look on her face. I asked her about it and she said she didn't want to tell me because I'd get too excited. She said her water kind of partially broke. It wasn't time to go to the hospital yet. I told her that was fine, we could wait until it was time. She sat back in her chair and relaxed. That was when her eyes got wide. Boom! It was time!

The girls had significantly different reactions as I excitedly picked up the game. Sydney got just as excited as I did and quickly helped pick up the game and ran up stairs to put her shoes on to go to the hospital. I was worried that she wouldn't react well when I told her she was going to stay at home, but she just went and took her shoes off and kept dancing excitedly. Kylie on the other hand got very sad and nervous. She didn't understand what was happening and was crying and needing comfort as we ran hither and tither getting things ready.

We started calling around to get someone to watch the girls until Nana and Papa could come and be with them. This was difficult. Calling people at dinnertime on Mother's Day is not an easy process. After many calls, I eventually ran over to the neighbors house and they helped watch the girls. Off we went to the hospital.

Cherilyn got settled into the room. She wasn't progressing very quickly, so after the nurse was done with her initial tests we started walking laps around the maternity ward. We walked a lot that evening. I used my former marching band skills to estimate that we walked probably about a mile and a half. With Sydney, Cherilyn had an epidural. With Kylie, she didn't have enough time to get one. This time with Wyatt, Cherilyn didn't mention an epidural right away. She eventually decided not to have one, and I think she was happy not to do it.
When it was nearly midnight it was time to call the doctor. She offered to let me deliver the baby, but I declined. I just wanted to be there, not catch. Once Cherilyn was ready it only took her 3 contractions worth of pushing, and Wyatt joined us. He wasn't in time to be a Mother's Day baby, but he is our palindrome baby. 5-11-15.
