Last night at softball it was very hot. Sydney got pretty sweaty, but as a result we were able to sculpt her hair all over the place.

Go USA!!!
Today we enjoyed watching the World Cup game between the USA and Brazil. USA got a goal 2 minutes into the game and Sydney didn't appreciate the loud cheering. Either that or she was mad that she missed seeing the goal. She fell asleep pretty soon after that which is probably good. I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of foul language but we were getting pretty raucous during the match. There was a terrible call resulting in a red card and then after Solo blocked the penalty kick there was another bogus yellow card saying that she moved forward off the line. After this it was a good but stressful game. After going up 2 -1 in extra time it seemed like Brazil was going to win, but in the second minute of stop time Wambach scored a goal to tie it up. This cheering woke up Sydney again. She came down to watch the US win in penalty kicks. What a great game and we are looking forward to the Semis on Wednesday against France.
A Momentous Occasion
Sydney is very close to crawling. She has started to lift herself up with her arms, but so far all she has done is rotate and then roll. You might think that crawling is the Momentous Occasion, but no. This week for the first time I was able to discover that she pooped her diaper because of the odor. Yes that's right Sydney has entered into the majority group of people in the world whose poop is stinky. The only person that is an exception to that that we know of is of course Chris Gosselin. He always smells of lavender and daisies, even when his diaper is filled to the brim. Congratulations Sydney! Well Done.
Playing with Odin
Sydney has really started to enjoy Odin. Anytime he comes nearby she starts to squeal and giggle. She loves to play with his ears and pet him. He has been very patient and lets her pet him. Even if it does seem kind of like smacking rather than petting on occasion. I can only imagine that it will get more physical after seeing what Callie does to Kona. Callie was standing with both feet on Kona while Kona was lying on her side. Seeing that, if Kona can take it then Odin will manage.

Luther, Mabe's and back Home
Our last morning in Decorah Nathan, G-Pops and I went out for a bike ride. We rode about 9 miles out to Madison Church on a very hilly road. But the weather couldn't have been better and the views were majestic. After the ride Nathan and Sarah went to write up a business plan so they could get investors for a farm just north of the cities. Meanwhile we ate breakfast and relaxed on the porch of the B&B. We were going to go to the Decorah pool with Sydney but she got sleepy and we were starting to run out of time. Instead we took Sydney to Mabe's for lunch and then Luther. She got mad that she couldn't eat the pizza at Mabe's which is completely understandable. We visited Luther and judging by how quickly and contentedly she fell asleep after the visit she must know that she wants to go there for her higher learning. We had a great time in Decorah and are looking forward to Ragbrai in a few weeks.
